Chairman's Chatter
Welcome to the North West Balloon and Airship Club.

We are a regional club affiliated to the BBAC – the British Balloon and Airship Club.

Meetings are held monthly, normally on the third Tuesday of the month.

During the lighter evenings we try and fly (weather permitting), and from late autumn until spring we hold indoor meetings, sometimes with a small amount of club business but also including training / refresher sessions or social activities.

On the first Sunday of most months we also try to arrange club fly-outs around the region.

We hold four annual rallies at Bank Holiday weekends. Many members visit other balloon events around the UK and abroad.

Details of our forthcoming club events are listed of the ‘Social’ and 'Balloon Meets' pages. Non members are welcome.

February's meeting was not well attended, some members were away as it was school half term holidays, also the weather was poor.

Those who made the effort enjoyed planning the year's ballooning calendar, discussing events across Britain and Europe as well as North West and Pennine Region more local events.
This was followed by members' stories on weather related 'interesting' flights.

At our '1st Sunday' meeting in March pilots and crew were educated and instructed by Chris Dunkley of Easy Balloons.
Chris showed us how to maintain the balloon to preserve its life and how to prepare for the flying season.
He was warmly welcomed after driving up from Wendover that morning.
Tuesday 17th March was a short committee meeting followed by a pointless (sorry 'Pointless) quiz arranged by Derek. All who attended joined in and enjoyed the fun.
